Lady Gaga apologises as Zombie Boy’s cause of death is yet to be determined

Cape Town – Lady Gaga has apologised for assuming Rick Genest, aka ‘Zombie Boy’, died by suicide.

The 32-year-old – who was known as ‘Zombie Boy’ due to his full-body corpse tattoo – was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday, 1 August.

While reports said the cause of death was due to apparent suicide, a statement by Rick’s management has suggested that the “classification of his death is yet to be determined.”

In a now deleted tweet, Gaga paid tribute to her Born This Way music video co-star, saying: “The suicide of friend Rick Genest, Zombie Boy is beyond devastating. We have to work harder to change the culture, bring Mental Health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it. If you are suffering, call a friend or family today. We must save each other.”

Gaga took to Twitter on Sunday to correct herself and apologise.

Rick’s manager, Karim Leduc told TMZ the model’s family believe it was an accident.

According to Karim, Rick would lean over his balcony while smoking leading his family to believe he leaned over too far and accidentally fell.

According to BBC News, Rick had a “very positive mindset” at the time of his death, while his parents believe he would have left them a suicide note if he has decided to take his own life.
