Los Angeles - Laverne Cox is desperate to meet Beyoncé.
The Orange is the New Black actress is a huge fan of the Flawless hitmaker and though she knows the singer's stylist and publicist, the closest she has come to a one-on-one encounter with the 34-year-old star is making eye contact with her when she stood on the front row at her Formation show in Chicago last month.
Laverne told the New York Daily News newspaper: "I have not met Beyoncé.
"We had several moments where we made eye contact. She said, 'You run this mother,' right to me.
"I obviously was doing all the choreography in the audience."
The 32-year-old star will make history when she becomes the first transgender actress to portray a transgender character in a series on broadcast TV when she makes her debut as attorney Cameron Wirth in CBS legal drama Doubt.
And Laverne admits her love of Reese Witherspoon's 2001 comedy Legally Blonde helped her become well-versed in legal jargon, though she insists she won't be basing her own character on that of the film's protagonist Elle Woods.
She said: "You know Legally Blonde is one of my favourite movies of all time.
"But I'm not channeling Elle Woods, even though she won her case."
