Lionel Richie’s son issued formal warning after making fake bomb threat at UK airport

Cape Town – Lionel Richie’s son, Miles Brockman Richie, was involved in an altercation causing him to be detained at a UK airport.

The model was arrested after allegedly claiming to have a bomb in his bag, TMZ reports.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police in London told the outlet that Miles “accepted a caution for communicating false information causing a bomb hoax and battery following an incident at Heathrow (Airport) Terminal 5.”

According to eyewitnesses, the 24-year-old grew angry after struggling to get onto his flight. He then claimed to have a bomb and threatened to detonate it if he was not let onto the flight.

When security arrived to defuse the situation, Miles became violent and punched one of the officers, Us Weekly reports.

Miles was released shortly after being detained and issued with the caution.

A caution, askthepolice.co.uk explains, is “a formal warning that is given to a person who has admitted the offence. If the person refuses the caution then they will normally be prosecuted through the normal channels for the offence.”

Miles has not yet commented on the incident.
