Luke Wilson called a hero for pulling woman to safety after deadly crash

Actor Luke Wilson and pro golfer Bill Haas were among those involved in a fatal crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Although the Dear Eleanor star walked away from the crash without a scratch, Bill (35) suffered some injuries and the driver of the Ferrari the golfer was travelling in was killed, People reports.

According to the Daily News, the Ferrari was “travelling at high speed” when the driver, who hasn’t been identified, lost control and hit multiple vehicles, including Luke’s Toyota SUV, before colliding with a BMW.

Sean Heirigs (46), who witnessed the terrible accident, told the Irish Examiner he helped Luke (46) pull an unidentified 50-year-old woman out of her 4x4 that had flipped during the collision.

“Luke Wilson was the hero,” Sean says. “His car was also clipped but he just pulled over and jumped out to help immediately.

“He didn’t have to do that. He was also one of the injured parties so for him to be there helping me was amazing.

“He was leading the charge.”

The two scrambled to get the woman out of her vehicle as they feared the Ferrari’s smoking tires would catch fire.

“At one point, [Luke] was like, ‘Let’s get her out of here, it smells like smoke. You don’t know if it’s going to blow up or not’.

“So I reached in through a window to calm her down. Luke went around the back to the trunk of the car.

“We pried it open, she was able to unbuckle herself, and Luke started to pull her out from the back. We then both carried her to the curb.”

Sean says the actor was taking control of the situation and wasn’t afraid to put his life at risk.

“He was calm. He was definitely a hero, [a] super nice guy,” he says. “When it was all done we hugged each other.”

Bill’s father, Jay, told US People magazine that his son is in severe pain and has some swelling in his legs but miraculously no broken bones. 

“Bill was very fortunate,” Jay said.
