Mindy Kaling’s daughter already has her own book club thanks to Oprah

Cape Town – Trust Oprah to send the most over the top/adorable/best gift ever to a friend who has just given birth.

In this case the receiver was Mindy Kaling and her 3-month-old daughter Katherine and it was a gift that will keep on giving in years to come.

Chatting to USA Today, Mindy revealed that her Wrinkle in Time co-star surprised her with an “amazing” gift shortly after she gave birth.

“I got a call from my assistant. She said, 'Oprah's assistant contacted me, she'd like to drop off a present.' I'm thinking, that's so nice, like, (it's) probably flowers. I had a kid, I'm a single mom. That's really nice Oprah remembered,” Mindy said.

Little did the new mom know that Oprah would actually be sending a hand-carved bookcase containing 100 classic essential books in children's literature.

And to make it even better, Oprah had each book marked with the title: “Katherine’s Book Club”

“They arrived with a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children's literature.

“And I held my baby up to it and I said, ‘Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?’”

According to Oprah she wanted the bookcase to look similar to the treehouse Mindy’s character lives in, in Wrinkle in Time, but it instead “only looks like a beautiful castle.”

Never-the-less this is a gift we’d accept with open arms!
