Moby issues public apology to Natalie Portman after claiming they dated

Cape Town – Moby has issued an apology to Natalie Portman after aggressively insisting they had dated in the past – regardless of Natalie's strong denial thereof.

It all started when Moby, 53, retold their alleged short-lived 1999 romance in his memoir, Then It Fell Apart.

Natalie vehemently denied this in an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, saying: "I was surprised to hear that he characterised the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school."

In retaliation, Moby took to Instagram with old photos of him and Natalie, when she was an 18-year-old fresh out of high-school and he a 33-year-old man, insisting that they had dated.

On Saturday, the American singer/songwriter changed his tune by deleting his posts against Natalie and issuing an official apology.

Alongside an image that reads, "from Moby, an apology," he wrote: "As some time has passed I've realised that many of the criticisms leveled at me regarding my inclusion of Natalie in Then It Fell Apart are very valid."

"I also fully recognise that it was truly inconsiderate of me to not let her know about her inclusion in the book beforehand, and equally inconsiderate for me to not fully respect her reaction.

"I have a lot of admiration for Natalie, for her intelligence, creativity, and animal rights activism, and I hate that I might have caused her and her family distress," Moby added.

He then went on to apologise to all the other people he included in his memoir without informing them first."
