Cape Town - A devoted British mom has ditched her boring “mumsy” lifestyle after repeatedly being mistaken for world-renowned supermodel Kate Moss.
When Denise Ohnona (37), from Lancashire, England, gave birth to her first child she lost her sense of style and gained a lot of weight.
After going through a tough divorce, the mom spent most of her days at home with her daughter Elise (7) and barely took time to spruce up her appearance.
“When I split up with my ex-husband six years ago, I went a bit ‘mumsy,’ I lost my sense of fashion and gave up on the gym,” says Denise.
“I’d look after the kids day and night and it was more important to run around after them than to look after myself.”
But everything changed for Denise when people stopped her on the street to tell her how much she resembled supermodel mom Kate Moss.
She then decided to transform her image and she channelled her inner diva. “It helped me cope with the divorce,” she says.
“Being told that I could look like Kate Moss picked me back up and I started focusing on myself again.”
The now glammed-up mom has since replaced her wardrobe, makes regular trips to the gym and ensures she always looks fabulous before stepping out her front door.
Although she’s not as tall as the famous British model, Denise admits that she’s always wanted to be as slender as Kate.
“I’ve always been obsessed with wanting to be really skinny because it suits me – and that's how Kate Moss is,” Denise reveals.
When she divorced her ex-husband in 2011, Denise reveals that she stopped taking proper care of herself.
“I went into a downward spiral of not looking after myself – I felt very self-conscious as I'd lost the man I was with for eight years.
“So I stopped eating well and looking after myself, I was more focused on convenience and comfort,” says the mom-of-two.
Denise, who constantly gets told she looks like Kate, also divulges that her current partner, Robert, is regularly reminded of her likeness to the former runway model.
“Robert always gets told that I look like Kate, but he insists that he didn't notice the resemblance when we first met.
“We were out on a date in London one night, there was a group of 10 people sitting at a table beside us and they wouldn't stop turning around and looking,” she says.
The yummy mummy hopes to one day have the privilege of meeting the legendary model and wonders if Kate would see the resemblance.
“I’ve never met Kate Moss but I’d love to know if she thinks we look similar too.”
