Johannesburg - In Nicki Minaj’s first interview of the year, she caught up with Zane Louw on his Beats 1 radio show.
“Shout out to Cardi, Ms. Banks, Maliibu Miitch, Kash Doll, Asian Doll and the other girls out there that show me love,” she began the interview saying, according to bet.com. “They’re doing their thing.”
But the award winning rapper soon broke into tears when talking about how Cardi bad mouthed her. This came after Nicki was happy to let Cardi feature with her on the Migos single, Motorsport.
Despite this, rumours came out that Nicki was blindsided by Cardi’s feature on the track. Cardi B then complained about Nicki on Capital Xtra in November, saying that Nicki altered her verse on the track before it came out, without Cardi hearing it.
“Well, when I heard the track, her verse wasn't finished,” Cardi B said. “Or it's not the verse that's [on there] right now. And Quavo told me that to get on the song, and I just felt like it's a perfect opportunity for me to be on a track that's big like them.”
In the interview Nicki speaks on how she felt disappointed by Cardi’s complaints. “When I first came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and say thank you,” Nicki said. “The only thing with Cardi that really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did when Motorsport came out. It really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry – I felt ambushed.”
She then went on to ask Quavo to clear the record on Twitter and defend her side but according to her, Quavo refused saying that he would if she was “his girl”.
“It hurt my feelings to know that people would watch me be slaughtered and not one person will step in to say the truth. They’ll allow people to run with the lie because it’s entertaining to make Nicki seem like a bad guy. It’s sad,” Nicki said.
According to Time, Nicki seems to be back for good. She recently blessed fans two new singles (Barbie Tingz and Chun-Li) off her upcoming album. Nicki went quiet on social media for four months, with fans launching campaigns to find her.
