Pete Davidson’s proposal to Ariana Grande was seriously not what you’d expect

Cape Town - Glamorous stars are known for their over-the-top proposals – from getaways on exotic yachts to lavish trips on private jets, the world of celebs is used to extravagant displays of love.

But it seems Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson (24) made a deliberate effort to avoid any such clichés when he proposed to his now fiancée, Ariana Grande (25).

In an interview with Variety the comedian revealed he took a much more relaxed approach to asking his beloved for her hand.

“I didn’t want to do something corny,” he said. “We were in bed hanging after watching a movie. I was like, ‘Will you marry me?’ It was really dope.”

The funnyman said he’s convinced the No Tears Left to Cry singer will eventually wake up from the fantasy and grow tired of him, E! News reports.

“I’m still convinced she’s blind or hit her head really hard. Something is going to happen, and she’s going to be like, ‘What the f*** is this thing doing around?’ For right now, it’s rocking.”

The pair met in 2016 on the set of SNL but started dating only in May this year and got engaged in June, Cosmopolitan reports.

“I never thought I’d meet anyone like her,” Pete gushed.

“I can’t even put into words how great a person she is. I could cry. She’s the f***ing coolest, hottest, nicest person I’ve ever met.”

While no wedding date has been set yet the songstress has revealed it’ll be sometime next year, InStyle reports.

“We’re going to take our time to plan it,” she said. “We’ve been planning and my friends and I, my mom and everybody have been brainstorming and sharing ideas and stuff. It’s really fun.”
