PICS: Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix make their awards show debut

Cape Town – It’s confirmed: Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are a couple, and a damn cute one if we say so ourselves.

The love birds confirmed their rumoured romance as they casually showed up hand-in-hand to the Cannes Film Festival’s closing night over the weekend.

Rooney and Joaquin arrived together and sat holding hands all night; they were also spotted leaving in the same car.

The adorable couple factor rose when Rooney had to nudge Joaquin to get up and accept the Best Actor award for his role in Lynne Ramsay's thriller You Were Never Really Here. The 42-year-old was more surprised than anyone that he had won the award.
