Cape Town – Louis Ducruet and Marie Chevallier tied the knot this weekend in a beautiful two-day wedding.

Louis Ducruet is the son of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and Daniel Ducruet, and the grandson of Grace Kelly and Rainer III, Prince of Monaco.

PEOPLE reported that the wedding was "a private family affair", according to one of the attendees, but that didn’t stop the royals from going all out in a two-day celebration in Monaco.

The first of the festivities was their civil ceremony on Friday, 26 July, followed by the religious ceremony at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate – the same cathedral where Louise’s grandmother and grandfather, Grace Kelly and Prince Rainer III wed in 1956.

Before the wedding, Louis explained that he and Marie chose the venue as a way of having his late grandparents with him. "I was really attached to my grandfather. And I wanted him to be here with me," he said. "That’s why we chose it, and Marie supported me in this decision."

Louis, who is 15th in line to the throne, met Marie Chevallier in 2011. The two were college sweethearts and have been in love ever since they met in 2011 at a Cannes nightclub, discovering they were in fact classmates.

The now newlyweds share a rescue pup, Pancake, and their unwavering conviction that theirs was “love at first sight”.
