Cape Town - Although some would love to resemble Rihanna, this doppelganger said being compared to the singer has a serious downside.

Yna Sertalf, who’s originally from the West Indies but now lives in France, said she struggles to find a man because of her striking resemblance to the Wild Thoughts songstress, the Daily Mail reports.

"I’ve been single for about a year, but I’d never put myself in a relationship with someone who sees me as Rihanna and not Yna," the 23-year-old said.

"When I talk to someone and hear Rihanna too many times [when we’re hanging out], I give up [on them] because I can’t determine if the person fantasises about Rihanna or if they really want to know me. That’s why I’m single.

"I’ve been mistaken for Rihanna quite a lot. This happens to me usually when I’m in tourist places."

Her likeliness to Rihanna (31) is so uncanny that even her mom once mistook her for the Barbadian pop star, Metro reports.

"My friends and family find it funny too."

"Once my mom received a magazine in her mailbox with Rihanna on the cover and she sent it to me, saying, 'I thought it was you.'

"The funniest thing is when people talk about you thinking they’re being discrete. I always smile at them to show them I heard. It’s embarrassing.

"But when little kids scream at their parents, 'It’s Rihanna' it’s lovely. Sometimes even if we tell them I’m not her, they think we’re lying."

Yna, who boasts more than 24 000 followers on Instagram, says people on social media constantly compare her to the makeup mogul, Inked Mag reports.

"A girl once quoted one of my tweets on, saying: 'Where’s the album?' And a lot of people retweeted it. I was amused but not surprised."
