Robert De Niro breaks his silence on separation from Grace Hightower

Cape Town – Robert De Niro has broken his silence following reports that he and Grace Hightower have separated.

The 75-year-old and the 63-year-old reportedly separated some time ago and are no longer living together. It was expected that they would announce their split in the coming weeks.

In a statement to E! News, De Niro said of the separation: “Grace and I have two beautiful children together. We are entering a period of transition in our relationship which is a difficult but constructive process.”

He added: “I honour Grace as a wonderful mother and ask for privacy and respect from all as we proceed to develop our roles as partners in parenting.”

The former couple share two children, 20-year-old son Elliot and 6-year-old daughter Helen.
