Johannesburg - American singer Sam Smith can pretty much pull off any look – and recently added to his collection of accessories is an eye-patch, which came after a minor surgery to get rid of a stye.

Taking to his Instagram page, Sam shared an image of himself wearing a black-eye patch over his right eye which he wittingly captioned, “Stye with me,” making reference to his award-winning hit single Stay with Me

According to Health24, an eye-stye is an abscess either in the lower or upper eyelid caused by a bacterial infection.

The Too Good at Goodbyes hitmaker also documented the final moments leading up to the minor eye-surgery according to People magazine.

“I know you're probably sick of seeing my stye, but I don’t care,” Sam captioned a selfie with a pink heart drawn over his right-eye.

“I think it's beautiful.”

The 26-year-old singer, who will hit South African shores in April for the first time, further admitted that he was worried about the procedure ahead. “So. I’m getting it operated on in 20 minutes. I’m f—— scared and also super hyped that I get to wear this pirate patch.”

In another post Sam expressed that he was being, “dramatic” and that it was just a, “15 minute operation.”

Well at least we can rest assured that by the time Sam touches down in Mzansi, the only thing that’ll ‘stye’ with us will be his remarkable live performance.
