Cape Town - Singer and actress Selena Gomez celebrated her 26th birthday on Sunday.
The In Dubious Battle star partied in style on a yacht in Newport Beach, California, with guests including her friends Raquelle Stevens, Courtney J Barry, Sam Lopez and Connar Franklin, Elle reports
Although Selena stayed away from social media on her birthday, that didn’t stop partygoers from sharing snaps of her joyous celebration.
But on Monday, after the Wolves singer released an assortment of pictures from her Italian-themed birthday extravaganza, she managed to beat Beyoncé’s record of getting to a million likes for a post the fastest, doing so within only 13 minutes of the post being shared, Teen Vogue reports.
The post now has over 9 million likes and will continue to grow with Selena being the most followed person on Instagram, with 139 million followers.
"Another year down.. Thank you for all the bday love. I couldn’t be more appreciative of you and my best friends for celebrating with me. I love you guys like crazy! God bless! (sic)," Selena captioned her birthday post.

Kylie Jenner however, still has the most liked snap on Instagram. The 20-year-old took the top spot after announcing the birth of her daughter, Stormi Webster.

Although Selena has been pretty low-key on social media – last posting pictures on 14 July – that didn’t stop excited fans from wishing her well on her special day.
