Cape Town - Selena Gomez prides herself on keeping it real with her fans – and now she’s spoken out about her confidence issues.
In her first interview since her stint in the mental health facility she was admitted to in September, the 26-year-old singer told Elle magazine that she’s always had problems with her self-esteem.
The It Ain’t Me singer recently teamed up with Puma to release an active-wear range for females called Strong Girl, something she believes will help empower young women to feel strong and beautiful, no matter their body type.
“I get really insecure sometimes,” she told Elle. “I go through weird ups and downs, but in general I just want people to wear what they feel comfortable in.
“I think it’s important for girls to know the strength in everything, their identity and their soul, lies within themselves.”
Selena has long suffered from depression and took time off from her career in 2016 to focus on her mental health and get treatment for her anxiety, Business Insider reports.
The Neighbours 2 actress said while she enjoys pilates and functions best when her body and mind is healthy, the clothing collection isn’t necessarily for working out, E! News reports.
“My assistant, she’ll wear workout clothes every day. But she doesn’t work out. It’s just become a lifestyle, and she loves it. She loves how she feels and she loves how she wears it, and that’s what I want everybody to feel. She’s inspired me a lot too.”
