Cape Town – Serena Williams asked her fans if “push presents” are a thing and well, it turned out to be a pretty touchy subject.

Alongside the most adorable snap of her newborn daughter, Alexis, Serena posed the question: “Ladies is a "push present" a thing? If so what did you get if anything?”

For those of you who might not know, a push present is basically a gift that a new mom is given by her SO for giving birth.

Shortly after asking some of Serena’s fans were quick to answer that it totally isn’t and not many people can relate to it.

One fan wrote: “Dear Serena, ‘push presents’ are for trophy wives whose only accomplishment is convincing a wealth man to marry them. YOU, however, are an accomplished QUEEN. GOAT. LEGEND. ‘Push presents’ are for basics...and definitely not a conversation you should want to take part in. (sic)”

Other fans made comments like, “a ridiculous thing for wealthy women,” “nope not a thing” and “The baby is the present... A partner who helps 100% is the best gift.”

Meanwhile some fans felt the opposite saying it totally is a thing!

One fan commented: “I didn’t think it was until he bought me a new car!”

Another fan commented that it is definitely a thing and received jewellery as a gift for all the births of her children so that she can pass it on to them when they are old enough.

So, is a push present a thing or no?
