'Star Trek' actor Richard Herd, 87, dies

Richard Herd has died. He was 87 years old.

The actor, who appeared in many television shows and movies over the years, died from cancer-related causes on Tuesday, reports CNN.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Herd, and his two children Erica and Richard Herd Jr.

According to Variety, Richard's long career in show business started when the star became a stage actor. His film debut came in the 70s in Hercules in New York followed by All the President's Men.

He went on to appear in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Renegades as well as TV shows such as The O.C., NYPD Blue, ER, Dallas and Seinfeld, in which he played Mr Wilhelm, the New York Yankees exec who supervised George Costanza (Jason Alexander), for 11 episodes.

Most recently he also appeared in Jordan Peele's 2017 film, Get Out
