Taraji P Henson is engaged to hunky beau Kelvin Hayden

Cape Town – Taraji P Henson got a little more than she expected for Mother’s Day – a marriage proposal.

The Empire actress announced on Monday that her athlete boyfriend Kelvin Hayden got down on one knee and proposed after gifting her a Cartier love bracelet.

Alongside a photo of her gorgeous ring and some chocolate-dipped strawberries, Taraji wrote: “I said yes y’all!!! He started with the Cartier love bracelet BUT that was my #Mothersday gift and then he dropped to his knee and I almost passed out!!!”

After only confirming that she has been dating Kelvin for two years during an episode of Essence's podcast Yes, Girl! in December, Taraji shared tiny details of her relationship with E! News in January.

Sharing why she decided to confirm her relationship, the 47-year-old said: “It wasn’t even about talking about my life, he just asked me if I was happy and I said, ‘I’m very happy’ and they just ran with it.”
