Scott Swift has reportedly fought off an intruder who broke into his $4 million (R60 million) Florida penthouse.
Scott Swift, the father of singer Taylor Swift, returned to his residence in Vinoy Place Towers in Florida at around 22:00 in the evening to find an intruder inside.
The burglar, Terrence Hoover, had used an emergency staircase to reach the 13th floor, just seconds before Scott arrived home.
The two allegedly had a scuffle, before Hoover fled the scene.
Hoover evaded authorities initially but has since been arrested, reports Sky News.
The singer's father picked out the alleged intruder in a police line-up and the suspect has now been charged with burglary.
The suspect’s mother has told Tampa Bay Times that her son was just searching for his wife, who left him and his children six months before the incident.
She claims her son was lost and should only be charged with trespassing.
Hoover already has quite a full arrest record, including domestic violence, aggravated battery, burglary, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
