Cape Town - “Abusers protect abusers.”

In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy, 49-year-old actor, Terry Crews opened up about record producer, Russell Simons (60) asking him to drop the sexual assault charges against a Hollywood executive.

According to The Guardian, “Terry described how, at an industry function in 2016, an unnamed male executive groped his genitals in front of his wife and “grinned like a jerk” at the pair’s shocked response.”

Terry didn’t speak out or retaliate at the event because of fear of being painted as the “angry, violent black man” and sent to prison. But after Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie joined a couple of other women who accused Oscar-winning Hollywood film producer, Harvey Weinstein, of sexual assault, he was prompted to share his own story on Twitter.

On the American breakfast show, Terry said he was both confused and appalled by Russell’s email asking him to drop the charges:

“First of all, Russell and I don’t even talk like that, why are you emailing me? And that’s the thing, now he wants to be my buddy, really? Here’s the thing everybody doesn’t know, Russell hangs with those guys, and now he’s calling me telling me ‘give this brother a pass’, nobody gets a pass,” he stressed.

Terry also mentioned that Russell is now saying he has “zero tolerance” for people sexually assaulting others, but when he [Terry] was going through the same thing, he was asked by Russell to drop the charges.

“Abusers protect abusers, this culture protects it, they protect each other. And my thing is, you’ve got to eat the thing that you serve,” he continued.

Terry concluded by saying:

“Let me just tell you the rules: You work anywhere, you go to work, you should not be molested, and whoever molests you should be fired.”
