Cape Town - Acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman lost his granddaughter, E'Dena Hines, in 2015 after her boyfriend viciously stabbed her to death, 25 times, according to BET.

Almost three years since the tragic incident occurred, her final words have been revealed.

"Why are you doing this?" Cristina Aviles, a 22-year-old nursing student, remembered hearing Hines mutter before she died. During the trial, Aviles testified about overhearing Hines and her live-in boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, in the street, reported the New York Post.

"They were arguing,' she said. "She was on the floor, and he was on top of her, restraining her, stopped her from getting loose from his grip. He was trying to keep her down... I proceeded to call the cops."

Aviles also recalled hearing 30-year-old Davenport say awful things to Hines as she passed.

"He was yelling things about releasing the devil out of her," she added. "And then he pulled out a knife, and then he proceeded to stab her multiple times... I was in shock when I saw him take out the knife. I don't know where it came from."

According to Daily Mail, Davenport, who is also a rapper, is accused of her murder and is currently standing trial. Aviles also mentioned that Hines suffered “multiple stabs” from the back, the front of her chest and her neck.

At the time of her death, Freeman said of his granddaughter: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.”
