Cape Town - This woman, who looks just like Demi Lovato, is often stopped by fans who mistake her for the singer.

Nathália Monteiro, from São Paulo in Brazil, was first told she looked like the Sorry Not Sorry singer back in high school, which sparked her to do some research on the former Disney star.

“I do get recognised a lot. It’s quite surreal. She’s somebody I look up to so it’s crazy to be compared to her,” says Nathália.

“When I’m walking down the street I’ll get asked for a photograph, almost every day. It can get overwhelming.”

After reading up on how the A-lister overcame her struggles with substance abuse and eating disorders, the 20-year-old became a huge fan herself.

While attending Demi’s Neon Lights Tour concert back in 2014, the psychology student says she was overwhelmed with the number of fans mistaking her for the Camp Rock actress.

“It all really started when I went to her concert in 2014 and everyone there told me I looked like her so I decided to do a cover of one of her songs.

“Now whenever I go to any of her concerts here in Brazil people freak out. They scream and even cry. They believe that I really am Demi.

“They also ask me to autograph their T-shirts and any photographs of Demi that they have with them,” she says.

The professional lookalike, who has more than 13 000 followers on Instagram, now does concerts for her fans and covers Demi’s songs every few weekends.

“It got bigger once I went on social media. There were lots of people talking about me. Everyone was amazed at how much I look like her,” she says.

Nathália, who admires Demi’s strength and confidence, says she’ll keep on covering her songs to get a taste of the “glamorous life”.

“I’m a huge fan of Demi’s. She has an amazing talent. She’s an incredible singer. When I read about her history I just fell in love with her,” she says.

“I love how strong she was for overcoming all of her struggles and how she helps people who went through the same thing.”
