Johannesburg - If you’re engaged but haven’t set a date for your wedding yet or even picked out a dress, you’re not alone – Toni Braxton hasn’t either.
In an exclusive clip obtained by ESSENCE, of the latest episode of Braxton Family Values, the 50-year-old Hurt You singer admits that she hasn’t planned anything for her wedding as yet.
Between her busy schedule, and her fiancé, Birdman’s even more hectic schedule, it’s difficult to even set a date, let alone plan their outfits and everything in between.
After revealing that they want the theme for their wedding to be anything from Sex and the City to The Great Gatsby:
“This is my second wedding and I’m over 40. It’s like [Sex and the City’s] Carrie Bradshaw – the last bride. It’ll be elegant and a little sexy.”
It seems all those plans have not reached the implementation phase yet.
“There’s not a date. There’s not a colour scheme that’s etched in stone; there’s nothing,” she told her mom, Evelyn, in the clip. “I haven’t picked the dress yet, even, ma.”
“He’s part of the problem,” Braxton said of Birdman. “He’s very busy if not more busy than I am so I have not set a date for the wedding yet,” she added.
When Toni opened up to her mother that she felt her sisters weren’t giving her enough assistance either, her mother suggested that maybe it’s because she’s a bit disorganised herself – to which Toni responded:
“It’s not even about that. It’s not that they’re not helping, it’s just that they’re not helping big enough.”
Even though the plans haven’t been made yet, Toni did mention that:
“He’s [Birdman] a gentleman, opening doors … I promise you, and he’s very traditional.”
So the wedding should be absolutely beautiful – when it does finally happen!
