Johannesburg - American singer Doja Cat (22) – real name Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini – is in hot water with tweeps after saying she’s guilty of using the derogatory term "f*ggot" thousands of times.

The daughter of South African actor Dumisani Dlamini – perhaps best known for playing Crocodile in Sarafina!recently released a single, Mooo, which is doing the rounds on social media.

In the tweet that sparked outrage on the social media site Doja Cat claimed she had “said f*ggot roughly 15 000 times in my life. Does saying f*ggot mean you hate gays? Do I hate gay people? I don’t think I hate gay people. Gay is cool.”

Doja Cat later apologised but Twitter wasn’t particularly accepting of her apology.
