Cape Town - Donald Trump Jr’s wife calls it quits on their marriage.
According to Page Six, 40-year-old Vanessa Trump filed for divorce from her husband Donald Jnr (40) on 15 March in New York State Supreme Court. In a public court record it states that Vanessa is seeking an uncontested divorce.
“After 12 years of marriage we’ve decided to go our separate ways,” the pair said in a statement to CNN. “We’ll always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for privacy during this time.”
The couple, who were introduced by US President Donald Trump, started dating shortly after meeting at a fashion week show in New York City in 2003, reports US Weekly. In 2005 the pair married at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
A source close to the couple told People that they had been living separate lives before Donald Trump became America’s 45th President.
“I heard for a while they’ve been living separate lives. Even before all this Trump presidency stuff started they weren’t good and their marriage was strained,” a source told People.
The duo made headlines in February after Vanessa opened a suspicious letter containing an unidentified white substance that was mailed to their new apartment in New York.
According to Daily News, the letter was addressed to Donald Jr. The former model and two other people at the home were rushed to hospital as a precautionary measure.
“Thankful that Vanessa and my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning,” Donald Jr tweeted at the time. “Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behaviour.”
