'Victoria's Secret Fashion Show' axed for 2019

Cape Town – Model and angel, Shanina Shaik confirmed the news that the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has indeed been axed – at least, for 2019.

"Unfortunately the Victoria's Secret Show won't be happening this year. It's something I'm not used to because every year around this time I'm training like an Angel. But I'm sure in the future something will happen... I'm sure they're trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it's the best show in the world," the model said.

The show's garnered a lot of controversy, particularly for failing to be inclusive.

CNBC reported earlier this year that L Brands CEO Les Wexner said they'd be "rethinking" the Show. As such he said they also felt network television was no longer the "right fit".

With more and more women speaking out and criticising the show for promoting skimpy underwear on super slim models, ratings have dropped quite a bit. So it's no surprise that this will be the first time the show will not be broadcast on television in 20 years.

But, perhaps we're all the better for it?

Could this finally be a step in the right direction for Victoria's Secret
