WATCH: Brad Pitt hilariously names his Bafta after Prince Harry because he's 'bringing it back to the States'

Cape Town – Brad Pitt missed the Baftas over the weekend – but he still made a memorable appearance when his costar Margot Robbie accepted his Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

"Brad couldn't be here tonight due to family obligation, so he asked me to read his response for him," the Bombshell star said on stage.

"Hey Britain, heard you just became single, welcome to the club," she quoted Brad. "Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement.

"He then says, 'Thank you to the academy for this extreme honour.' He says he's always been a bit intimidated over here given the royal academy of dramatic arts and the titans that have come before, so this is especially meaningful."

Margot went on to thank Quentin Tarantino and the crew of the film on Brad's behalf before adding, "Oh and he says he's going to name this Harry, 'cause he is really happy about bringing it back to the States with him.

"His words, not mine," she said, making a quick escape from the stage while the camera switched to  Prince William, who has been BAFTA president for 10 years now, and Kate Middleton, who was seen roaring with laughter.

We may get another hilarious speech from Brad Pitt soon with the 56-year-old nominated at the Oscars for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor has already taken the Golden Globe this year.

During his acceptance speech, he poked fun at all those dating rumours. "I wanted to bring my mom, but I couldn't," he said. "Cause any woman I stand next to they say I'm dating. "It would just be awkward."
