Cape Town – Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that reviews for mother! contributed to the downfall of her relationship with director Darren Aronovsky.
In an episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors, JLaw and Adam Sandler discuss how they deal with negative reviews of films they’re in, prompting Jen to open up about mother!
Generally, the 27-year-old avoids reviews however, dating the director of the film she was in made avoiding them very difficult.
“Dating the director was different,” Jennifer tells Adam.
“We’d be on the tour together and I’d come back to the hotel and the last thing I want to talk about or think about is the movie. He comes back and all he wants to talk about is the movie.”
Of course the actress understood where the director was coming from, “it’s his baby – he wrote it, he conceived it, he directed it,” but it was putting more pressure on their relationship.
She explains: “I was doing double duty of trying to be a supportive partner while also being like, “Can I please, for the love of God, not think about mother! for one second.’”
