WATCH: Katie Holmes plays coy on her Dawson's Creek kisses

Los Angeles - Katie Holmes refused to decide who was the better kisser out of James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson.

The brunette beauty locked lips with both actors on popular teen drama series Dawson's Creek, and though she previously dated Joshua, she insisted she didn't have a favourite.

Looking uncomfortable when asked by talk show host James Corden, who was the better kisser, she simply said: "Who do you think?'

The host quickly replied: 'I think Der Beek, because I would get straight up in his grill."

Meanwhile, fellow guest Ryan Reynolds praised Joshua - who he went to high school with in Vancouver - as a "terrific" kisser.

He said: "I went to high school with Josh, and I can tell you right now, he's a terrific kisser."

Katie laughed and said: "Well, I mean if he says so..."

James took her agreement as a decision that Joshua - who played Pacey Witter - was a better kisser than James, who was title character Dawson Leery.

He exclaimed: "So it's affirmative! Pacey's better than Dawson! I can't believe it!"

Elsewhere on the show, the 37-year-old actress - who has nine-year-old daughter Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise - admitted kissing scenes can be very "awkward".

She said: "It's so awkward because with a first kiss in real life, if it doesn't go well you can kinda be like, 'Oh I gotta get home,' or 'thanks.' You never have to deal with that person again.

"But on screen, you're gonna have to have lunch and you're probably have to work together tomorrow, so it's a little bit awkward."
