WATCH: Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino’s final moments before going to prison

Cape Town – Lauren Sorrentino has shared a glimpse of how her husband mentally prepared to go to prison.

Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino checked into federal prison on Tuesday, 15 January, where he will serve the 8-month sentence handed to him for tax evasion.

A new emotional video, shared on YouTube on Monday, shows Mike’s final moments before entering Otisville Correctional Facility in Orange County, New York.

As the clip follows Mike’s drive to the prison, the Jersey Shore star can be heard discussing his feelings about going to prison.

“The day before was the only day I felt a little bit of anxiety,” Mike can be heard saying before admitting that while driving to prison he felt “happy to put this behind me”.

The 36-year-old further revealed his goals during the 8 months he will be locked up, saying: “I’m going to work out every day. Reshape and be ready to come back and film season 3. That’s it.”

Mike joined his Jersey Shore castmates for a revival of the reality TV series in 2018, six years after its final episode aired in 2012.

According to People magazine, a third season of the reunion show was announced in December. A release date is set for summer 2019 (winter in South Africa).
