Cape Town - Rihanna couldn’t hold back the tears when she recently reunited with her former teacher at a Cricket World Cup match.
The Wild Thoughts singer surprised fans at the Riverside Durham stadium in England to watch a game of cricket, ET Canada reports.
But RiRi (31) was given a surprise herself when she bumped into Roddy Eastwick – one of her favourite teachers while growing up in Barbados.
In the tear-jerking video posted on Instagram, Rihanna can be seen giving Roddy, West Indies’ assistant coach, a warm embrace before bursting into tears, Metro reports.
“This is my teacher from school! He was a mentor and father figure to me. I haven’t seen him in years,” she commented on the post.
The nine-time Grammy winner, who now reportedly lives in London, later took to social media and posted a heartwarming picture of the pair with the caption: “My mentor, my champ, my MVP, my school teacher, my first “JayBrown”… #MrEastwick! You made my day.”
She delayed her private jet to watch West Indies batting against Sri Lanka, according to the Jamaican Observer. Unfortunately her team lost.
