Puff! Went the money...

2009-11-30 09:13

Ghetto Ruff founder Lance Stehr is suing left, right and centre! A few months ago he was tackling Zola 7, and now he's in a tizz over money he lent to has-been Puff Johnson and her mother Marie (who now live in SA).

Puff Johnson... ring a bell? Remember "Over and Over" from the early 90s, also featured on the First Wives Club soundtrack? Yip, she's that one hit wonder.

Puff Johnson was working with Ghetto Ruff earlier this year. SundayWorld reports that Stehr allegedly lent Puff and her mom money between October 2008 and January this year for everything from medical costs to drinks on a night out. He claims it all tallied up to more than R130 000! So why hasn't he been paid back?

Puff's lawyer, Tumi Mokoena, says that no demands have been made for any money at all, but he does acknowledge that Stehr "must have" footed the medical bills when Marie fell ill.  But he's sure that Lance won't recover his money because at the time, Puff and Marie Johnson were in the country illegally. And Mokoena reckons Stehr doesn't have a leg to stand on because of this little detail.

We're no legal experts, but somebody's blowing smoke around here. Local record labels can't afford to be shelling out for frivolous artists and their families, but you'd think Lance would know better.
