2009-11-23 09:07

Az Abrahams, Heart 104.9fm DJ and host of Heart Party Beatz was killed in a horrific car accident in the early hours of Saturday morning. News24 reported that his body was found lying outside his silver BMW at 05:00 when police attended to an accident scene on the Giel Basson turn-off on the N1.

He grew up in Fairways and went to school in Lansdowne, but has always been destined for the world stage. With a variety of credits to his name, he recently played major roles in two movies. "Confessions of a Gambler" and "More than Just a Game" are both South African stories that have received international acclaim. He presented the Heart Party Beatz programme on Friday and Saturday nights in the 22:00 to 02:00 slot.

Despite living a very public life, he was very much a family man.

His death has affected the industry on a whole.  "The entertainment industry is deeply saddened at the death of actor and popular Cape Town disc jockey Az Abrahams", film producer Anant Singh said on Sunday.

RIP Az. You will be sorely missed.
