Cape Town – On Tuesday, via Twitter, MP Holly Lynch shared an open letter signed by 72 members of parliament and addressed to Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex. "As women MPs of all political persuasions, we wanted to express our solidarity with you in taking a stand," the letter read.

They spoke of the "distasteful and misleading" stories by the tabloid press, which the Duke and Duchess are suing several British tabloids over while adding, "Even more concerning still, we are calling out what can only be described as outdated, colonial undertones to some of these stories."

Sharing that they too understand the abuse and intimidation that comes with being a woman in power, they wrote, "You have our assurance that we stand with you in solidarity on this," saying they will use whatever means possible to ensure the press focus on national interest instead of "seeking to tear a woman down for no apparent reason".

After wrapping up their tour of Africa, it became an even busier month for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry revealed Their Royal Highnesses would be suing several tabloids, one over the publication of a private letter, others for the damaging and clearly misleading stories.

Recently, Meghan also opened up about just how much the negative press has affected her. Speaking to Tom Bradby she said in the documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, "I tried, I really tried, but I think that what that does internally is probably really damaging, and the biggest thing I know is that I never thought this would be easy, but I thought it would be fair, and that's the part that's really hard to reconcile.

"Any women, especially when they're pregnant, you're very vulnerable, so that was made very challenging. It's a lot." "It's a very real thing to be going through behind-the-scenes," she said.

When pressed further by Tom, who asked, "Would it be fair to say [you're] not really okay," a teary Meghan responded, "Yes."
