Cape Town – Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, before even Prince William and Kate Middleton, there was the "fairytale wedding" that soon became the "wedding on the century".
This week marks what would’ve been the 38th wedding anniversary of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, who officially wed on 29 July 1981.
The Prince and Princess of Wales married at St Paul’s Cathedral in a traditional church of England wedding service with 3 500 attendees.
But crowds flooded the streets on the day declared a public holiday as they patiently awaited the couple’s appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, while an estimated global audience of 750 million people watched the couple said "I do" on their TV screens.
