Cape Town - Prince Harry (34) feels responsible because of how “badly stressed” Meghan, who’s pregnant with their first child, is by all the public criticism directed at her, a royal source told the American magazine US Weekly.

“Meghan made a huge sacrifice by moving across the pond, away from her mom and friends,” the inner circle royal source said.

“Marrying into the royal family isn’t anywhere near as glamorous as it seems, so in a lot of ways Harry feels responsible for Meghan being so miserable,” the source added.

Harry takes every attack made on Meghan “very personally”, according to the well-placed source.

“He’s wanted to publicly make a statement many times defending Meghan and addressing the false rumours. But was advised not to.”

Ever since the couple got engaged in November 2017 and married in May last year, Meghan regularly makes headlines and the reports aren’t always positive.

It’s been claimed she’s difficult to work with plus her estranged dad, Thomas Markle (74), and her sister, Samantha Markle (54), regularly sound off about her in the media.

There are even rumours that the Duchess of Sussex and her sister-in- law, Kate (37), don’t get along at all.

Meghan, who became famous as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, is used to reacting on Twitter or through a spokesperson to controversies or commentary, another source said.

“Meghan is used to replying to any sort of controversy or comment on Twitter and through a publicist.

“It’s taken a while for Meghan to get used to having the palace more involved with her life and steering her public image, but she’s finally getting comfortable and trusts that they have her best interests at heart,” the source said.

But not all her palace staff thinks the duchess is such an impossible customer.

Another source has come out saying that Meghan is in fact well-liked by her staff, who are excited by her ideas and enthusiasm.
