Cape Town – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex often break royal tradition, so it comes as no surprise their family Christmas card will stray from the royal norm.

Harry and Meghan, who are spending Archie's first holiday season in the US with Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, will most likely share their Christmas cards this week, according to an insider. The source told E! News, it will also probably include the duchess's mom.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly taken a "selection of family photographs" with Archie, and some may include Doria.

"Harry and Meghan are said to want [to] ensure that some of their Christmas card images reflect that Doria is very much part of their family and of Archie's upbringing," the insider shared. "It is a break with protocol from traditional royal Christmas cards, which haven't historically included grandparents. For instance, Kate's parents – Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton – have never appeared on any of their Christmas card images."

Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan and Archie are currently on a six-week break from royal duties, and they will therefore not be present at the queen's royal Christmas at Sandringham. But there are no bad vibes. The queen approved the move as she did in 2012 when William and Kate spent Christmas with the Middletons. Kate was pregnant with Prince George at the time.
