Cape Town - Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was all smiles for her luxurious baby shower in New York – but there was a notable face missing.

The duchess, who’s expecting her first baby with Prince Harry, jetted from London to New York for a lavish baby shower with Hollywood friends, including Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and best friend Jessica Mulroney, Daily Mail reports.

But her sister-in-law Kate Middleton was visibly absent from the celebrations.

The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly decided to skip the baby shower to spend time with hubby Prince William and their kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who were off from school this week.

A source told The Sun that Kate and her family went on a secret ski trip to their favourite resort, Courchevel in Les Troi Vallées, France.

The baby shower – held in the penthouse suite of the hugely expensive The Mark hotel in Manhattan, New York – reportedly cost $300k (around R4.2m), while the guest list included many A-listers.

“The trip’s a lovely chance to catch up with friends and spend time in a city she loves,” an insider said.

“This will be the last time a lot of them will see Meg until after the baby’s born so it’s nice to share precious moments.”

“It’s been a relaxing visit. Nothing beats face-time with your friends. Meg will be flying home refreshed and relaxed – and with a lot of new baby clothes.”

The penthouse was reportedly decked out in beautiful spring flowers, Elle reports.
