Cape Town - The Duchess of Sussex turned an awkward blunder into a memorable moment – with a heart-warming hug.

Meghan recently appeared at the opening of the One Young World Summit’s in London, following the screening of the emotional documentary filmed during their African tour, Mirror reported.

After being introduced to the organisers of the summit, the 38-year-old made her way on to the stage where one of the founders, Kate Roberson who she’s known for five years, was ready to greet her.

But just as Meghan stretched out her hands for a hug, Kate was half-way dipped down for a curtsy. The result is what appeared to be a hybrid curtsy and hug, as Kate was holding on to Meghan’s waist who in turn had her arms around Kate’s shoulders, People reported.

Realising their awkward mishap, the pair broke into slight laughter to which the Duchess shook her head and embraced Kate for a proper hug this time

A royal insider revealed at times that Meghan even hugs staff at the Kensington Palace, Hello!Magazine reported.

“Early in her dating Prince Harry, Meghan would come up to the palace. She’d get out of the car and the guards would basically greet her and walk her in,” the insider says.

“After the first couple of times I guess, she started giving hugs to the guys, which wasn't exactly protocol. At some point somebody said to her, ‘people don’t usually do that’ and she just said (shrugging) ‘I’m American, I hug’.”
