Cape Town - For many people, becoming a member of the British royal family would be a dream come true.
In fact, most people would give anything to be in Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton’s position.
However, royals have to follow more rules than most of us could imagine – from asking the Queen's approval before proposing, to curtseying and bowing to the monarch.
Some of these protocols involve slight changes to everyday life, but other can be classified as ridiculous – like this one.
Meghan and Kate aren’t allowed to wear wedges, a fashion staple for many women around the world, in the presence of Queen Elizabeth.
The Queen isn’t a fan of wedge shoes, a source told Vanity Fair.
“She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among the women in the family.”
Although Kate has been photographed wearing them on several occasions the 36-year-old doesn’t wear them in the Queen’s presence, the Mirror reports.
It's likely Meghan will also stick to this rule – but there’s a chance she might rebel. According to the Mirror she’s already broken a big royal fashion rule.
All the women in the royal family wear nude tights when they're out and about, but at her engagement announcement Meghan decided to go bare-legged for her big day in front of the cameras.
