Cape Town - In less than two weeks Meghan Markle will be walking down the aisle in the dress of her dreams.

Several sources have confirmed to Daily Mail that the 36-year-old has enlisted British high-fashion designers Ralph & Russo to make the first of two gowns she is set to wear on her wedding day.

The dress, which will be hand-stitched and heavily beaded, is rumoured to cost around £100 000 (around R1.7m) and will be funded privately by the royal family.

“It sounds a lot but this is the wedding of the year and hundreds of hours of manpower have gone into making it, almost all by hand,” a source told Daily Mail.

According to E! Online, the designers - who have offices in London, Paris, and Australia - were seen leaving their London studios at 20:30 last week, apparently to put “finishing touches” on the gown.

And it seems Meghan loves her wedding dress!

In a segment called 'Spill the Royal Tea' on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live the bride-to-be’s close friend Priyanka Chopra revealed to Andy Cohen that Meghan was emotional when she first saw the dress.

When asked whether Meghan - whose dad, Thomas Markle, will walk her down the aisle - had cried, the Baywatch star smiled and buried her face in her hands, which led the talk-show host to shout “yes”.

This isn’t the first time Meghan has chosen to don an outfit from this well-known brand.

The former Suits star wore an exquisite sheer design from the designers’ autumn-winter 2016/17 collection for her and Prince Harry’s official engagement portraits.

The couple are set to tie the knot on 19 May. Stay tuned to Channel24's royal page for live coverage of the big day.
