Cape Town - The Duchess of Sussex’s brother is on a "personal crusade to better the family image".

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Thomas Markle admitted the road to reconciliation will be a "slow, long process" but said he has the perfect occasion in mind for their family reunion – little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s christening.

"I can’t say whether I’m going to be invited. I can’t say if Meghan is going to say, ‘Okay, enough is enough and, yes, I want my family back in my life’," the 53-year-old said.

"That would be wonderful, but I can’t answer that question. Of course, we all want to be there because that is a big deal.”

Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their son in May. While it’s uncertain when the christening will take place, royal babies are traditionally baptised two to three months after birth, reports Marie Claire.

Before Archie’s birth, Thomas Jnr predicted that the royal tot would heal the rift between Meghan and her father, Thomas, and half-sister, Samantha.

"We've been dragged through the gutter long enough,” Thomas Jnr previously said. “It's about time we get some peace in our lives."

"He wants his grandchild in his life, and he wants Meghan back.”

Despite Thomas Jnr’s desire to present a more positive image of his family, he believes the royal family shares as much responsibility for the Markles’ poor relationship with Meghan, writes US Weekly.

According to him, his father’s “appalling” mistakes were the result of being in the limelight.

However damaged her relationship with her father might be, Meghan continues to share a close bond with her mother, Doria Ragland, who was by her side when she welcomed Archie.
