Cape Town - The Duchess of Sussex will be a strict mother to son Archie, according to one of her close friends.

Actress and musician Janina Gavankar (38) opened up about the new mom in a CBS special, Meghan and Harry Plus One, telling host Gayle King that Meghan will be a "hands on" and "low maintenance" mother, Hello! reports.

The CBS special takes a look back at the couple’s first year of marriage and their life with newborn Archie.

It features interviews with several of Meghan’s friends, including Janina and the duchess’ long-time makeup artist, Daniel Martin, US Weekly reports.

"Meghan and I have talked about her being a mother for over a decade," Janina told King.

"She’s always wanted to be a mom. She’s going to be such a good mother.

"I think she’ll be very low-maintenance, very hands-on. The way she would’ve been if she hadn’t married into the royal family."

"I think Meghan’s gonna be strict," the former Suits star’s pal added.

"Not in some sort of, you know, intense way. But I think she’s going to – she’s an incredibly practical person – run a tight ship."

During the special makeup artist Daniel fiercely defended the duchess against negative headlines, including rumours about her being difficult, ET Online reports.

"What’s so frustrating is that you hear these stories and there’s no truth to them," he said.

"It’s not the same person. In the years I’ve known her, the years I've worked with her, she's never had a diva fit, never."

Daniel also believes Meghan will bring little Archie up to be "clean and green", even making her own baby food.

"I'm sure the baby's going to be raised clean and green. She loves to cook, eating organic whenever she can. I totally see her making her own food. Totally!"
