Cape Town - Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, has broken her silence about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby news.

In an interview with The Sun, Samantha – who is on vacation in Ireland - revealed she found out about her half-sister’s pregnancy via a text message from their father, Thomas.

Speaking about her hopes for the future, Samantha said: “It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear. I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive.”

And while the 53-year-old is happy about the news and hopes it will mend broken bridges, she went on to warn that if Thomas is not included in the baby’s life she is not going to be happy.

“I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.

“I hope my dad is included and at a proper time. If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.”

In an interview with DailyMail TV, Samantha reiterated that the baby news is a happy occasion and that everyone needs to put their egos aside fort he sake of the unborn child.

“It’s so important that everybody put their egos aside. Meghan's done some things with my dad, but in my heart, I love her and I want her and the baby to do well.”

Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they are expecting shortly after they arrived in Sydney, Australia on Monday.
