Cape Town - Oprah Winfrey reveals she was thrilled when Prince Harry offered his support for her new mental health documentary series.
The media mogul revealed that she’d never have approached the Duke of Sussex and was thrilled when he offered to contribute to the series.
According to Express, the talkshow host explains that they were just chatting when he offered his willingness to participate.
"We were having a discussion about, 'What are the things that really matter to you in the world?' And I’d asked Prince Harry that, and he said, 'Climate change and mental health wellness'.
"I went, 'Gee, me too!' So, from there, the conversation went to, 'I’m doing this thing for Apple...' and when I finished the conversation, he said, 'Oh, if you need any help with that Apple thing...'"
And the rest was history.
According to Daily Mail, not much is known about the project yet, except that it will debut this year and that Harry will serve as a co-creator and co-executive producer.
Currently, Oprah and the royal are gathering experts for the series.
The Duke of Sussex first spoke about the project in an Instagram post, stating that the two have already spent several months working on the series.
The post also explained that the series would inspire viewers "to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive".
"I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self," Prince Harry said.
The production team for the new series includes Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker, Asif Kapadia.
