Cape Town – Queen Elizabeth and the royal family turned out in their finest for the first day of Royal Ascot.
Every year the famous racecourse holds a special week of races in June which is attended by the queen, who has had an interest in horses since childhood.
Each day kicks off with the royal procession when Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family arrive along the track in horse-drawn coaches. They spend the rest of the day watching the races from the royal enclosure.
On day one the queen was joined by the Duke of York and the King and Queen of the Netherlands.
This week The Queen will attend #RoyalAscot. Each day of the week begins with the Royal Procession, when HM & accompanying Members of the Royal Family arrive along the track in horse-drawn landaus.
