Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer use the word "royal" in their new non-profit venture. This announcement comes after the duo decided to take a step back from their royal duties.

Ongoing negotiations at Buckingham Palace resulted in Queen Elizabeth announcing that they would no longer receive sovereign funds and would give up their HRH titles.

And now, it has been confirmed, they will no longer be able to use the word "royal" in any of their official communications, including their website.

While the couple continues to transition out of the royal family they will omit the use of "Sussex Royal" and the use of the word "royal" permanently from their upcoming nonprofit organisation.

"While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word 'Royal', it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation will not utilise the name 'Sussex Royal' or any other iteration of 'Royal'," they wrote in a statement on their website.

Once Prince Harry and Meghan have concluded their royal duties on 31 March, any iterations associated with the word "royal" or HRH titles will be scrapped – this also includes digital channels such as their website and their official Instagram page titled "SussexRoyal", TIME reported.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had previously tried to trademark "Sussex Royal" in an attempt to prevent others from exploiting it and for possible use on a "wide range of goods and services, from books to clothing and educational charitable campaigns", E! News reported they will now withdraw the trademark applications.

Watch this space for details on the new name, the couple indicated on their site.

"In Spring 2020, their digital channels will be refreshed as they introduce the next exciting phase to you," their website states.
