Cape Town - Moving on from a relationship can be pretty hard!

Days before Prince Harry said “I do” to Meghan Markle, he had a rather emotional phone call with his ex Chelsy Davy, reports Vanity Fair.

"It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on," a family friend told the mag.

"Chelsy was quite emotional about it all. She was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding. In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party."

Although Harry and the Zimbabwean-born beauty remained good friends after their split in 2011, the prince didn’t invite her nor former flame Cressida Bonas to the private evening reception at Frogmore House, Harpers Bazaar reports.

Prince Harry and Chelsy started dating in 2004 after meeting in Cape Town during his gap year, according to The Sun.

After dating on and off for seven years, the couple finally decided to call it quits. Chelsy later revealed she couldn’t deal with the pressure of dating a royal.

"It was so full-on: Crazy and scary and uncomfortable.

"I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young. I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible," she told The Times.

Even though Harry had a soft spot for Chelsy, a close source told E! News the 33-year-old royal "knew immediately" the former Suits star was the one.

"Even with Chelsy, Harry didn't feel this kind of spark.

"And they were together for years! Harry just knew immediately, from the moment he spent time with Meghan, that he wanted to be with her. It's a simple case of meeting the right girl at the right time."
