It’s official – Prince Harry is missing home.

In a candid admission the Duke of Sussex has told friends he "cannot believe" how his life has been "turned upside down" since he and Meghan stepped down from royal life.

The sixth-in-line-to-the-throne has swopped royal life in England for one of independence in Los Angeles with his wife. However, the move hasn’t come without plenty of controversy.

Sources say Harry misses his life in the military and believes he would have been "better protected" from the turmoil he’s endured in recent months if he was still in the British Army, sources have claimed.

It’s no secret Harry loved his life in the army and previously said it’s the one place where he "doesn’t get treated any differently". He enjoyed a 10-year career before having to quit in March 2015 after his secret position in Afghanistan was compromised.

Since he and Meghan officially stepped down as senior working royals on 31 March, he’s been stripped of his military appointments and titles that include Captain General of the Royal Marines and Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington.

"He has been telling friends he still can't believe this has happened. He can't believe his life has been turned upside down," a source told the UK’s Daily Telegraph.

"He was in a happy place when he was serving in the army, then he met Meghan and since then life has been great. But I don't think he foresaw things turning out quite as they did."

The source adds that Harry doesn’t blame Meghan for wanting to return to her home country. "There is just a sense that he might have been better protected if he was still in the army."
